2016 NAMA Board Member Candidate
Name: Alakananda Ma, M.B., B.S. (London), A.P.
State of Residence: Colorado
Committee Service: Standards Committee, National Exam Subcommittee, Schools Subcommittee
Membership Level: Professional Member - Ayurvedic Practitioner
Why would you like to serve on the board?
I would like to continue to be involved in the work we have been doing during my previous two terms and hope to offer continuity and institutional memory.
What skills and experience do you see yourself contributing that will support the management, direction, and growth of the association?
I am an experienced Board member not only because of the two terms I have already served for NAMA; in addition I was a founding board member of the Colorado Ayurvedic Medical Association, and previously of the Boulder Cooperative Market. I have also chaired the finance committee of Boulder Shambhala Center. My work with NAMA has included developing a Code of Ethics and working on the Standards Committee as well as the National Exam subcommittee and Curriculum subcommittee.
Statement to the Membership:
I have been a Board member for two terms and am heavily invested in NAMA's work. I hope to continue on the Board in the interest of continuity and institutional memory. I would like to make best use of my experience in and beyond the organization to continue and enhance the work already done in the arenas of educational standards and eventual licensure. I also want to act as a liaison between NAMA and state organizations.
