Communications & Marketing Lead
Reports To: Executive Director

Position Summary
The Communications & Marketing Lead oversees the organization’s communications, marketing, branding, digital engagement, and social media presence across multiple platforms. This role collaborates closely with staff, volunteer leaders, committees, presenters, and subject matter experts to develop accurate, engaging, and mission-aligned content that supports the organization’s educational programs, membership initiatives, events, and public outreach.
The position combines strategic communications planning with hands-on implementation, including email marketing, website content management, social media management, campaign coordination, and member outreach. The ideal candidate is creative, organized, collaborative, and experienced in managing integrated communications within a nonprofit or membership association environment.
Primary Responsibilities
Communications & Marketing Strategy
Develop and implement integrated communications and marketing strategies aligned with organizational goals
Coordinate organizational messaging, branding, and public-facing communications
Create annual and ongoing communications calendars and campaign plans
Support member engagement, recruitment, retention, and program promotion initiatives
Collaborate with leadership and staff to identify communication priorities and opportunities
Collaborate with volunteer committees, board members, presenters, and subject matter experts to develop and coordinate educational, promotional, and member-focused content
Support committee-led initiatives through strategic communications planning, marketing support, and content development
Assist in translating technical or specialized subject matter into accessible and engaging communications for members and the public
Social Media Management
Lead the organization’s social media strategy across platforms including Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, and other relevant channels
Create, schedule, publish, and manage engaging social media content
Develop social media campaigns to support events, educational programs, membership initiatives, advocacy efforts, and organizational announcements
Monitor engagement, audience growth, comments, and direct messages as appropriate
Track analytics and performance metrics to evaluate engagement and reach
Stay informed on emerging social media trends and recommend new engagement opportunities
Coordinate with staff, volunteers, presenters, and stakeholders to gather stories, photos, videos, and promotional content Coordinate with volunteer leaders, committees, and subject matter experts to gather content, educational insights, event highlights, and organizational updates for social media campaigns
Digital Communications & Content Development
Collaborate with volunteer committees and subject matter experts to develop educational articles, member resources, promotional content, and organizational messaging
Support content development for continuing education programs, conferences, webinars, advocacy initiatives, and member engagement efforts
Assist with editing and formatting subject matter expert contributions for digital and print communications
Website & Online Presence
Manage website updates including event pages, program information, blogs, and member resources
Coordinate digital assets, graphics, and content uploads
Ensure website information remains current, accurate, accessible, and user-friendly
Support SEO and website optimization efforts where applicable
Email Marketing & CRM/AMS Support
Coordinate segmented email campaigns and member communications
Manage communication lists and audience targeting through Customer Relations Management (CRM)/Association Management System (AMS) systems
Support data integrity and communication tracking within the membership database
Monitor email performance metrics and engagement analytics
Event & Program Promotion
Develop and coordinate marketing campaigns for conferences, webinars, continuing education programs, and organizational initiatives
Create promotional timelines and communication schedules for events and programs
Support attendee outreach and registration communications
Assist with onsite or virtual event communications and promotional support as needed
Administrative & Team Collaboration
Maintain organized communications, marketing, and digital asset files
Coordinate communication workflows and project timelines
Collaborate with vendors, contractors, designers, and technology partners as needed
Support additional organizational initiatives and projects as assigned
Qualifications
Required
3+ years of experience in communications, marketing, social media management, nonprofit administration, or related fields
Strong written, editing, and verbal communication skills
Demonstrated experience managing organizational social media platforms and digital communications
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability to manage multiple projects, timelines, and priorities independently
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace
Experience updating websites and content management systems
Graphic design experience using Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar platforms
Preferred
Experience working within nonprofit organizations, professional associations, or mission-driven organizations
Experience with CRM/AMS platforms such as MemberClicks
Familiarity with email marketing platforms such as Mailchimp or Constant Contact
Experience with Square Space
Experience supporting conferences, webinars, or educational programming
Familiarity with social media scheduling, analytics, and engagement tools

Compensation & Benefits
Hourly Range: $25-$27/hour depending on experience
