NAMA has created a new Professional Ayurvedic Vaidya Membership Category!
The NAMA Professional Ayurvedic Vaidya Membership category represents the highest level of Ayurveda training. Eligible individuals (see below for eligibility criteria) can apply to become members at the NAMA Professional Ayurvedic Vaidya Membership level during an open enrollment period from 7/17/2025 to 6/30/2026. After the initial open enrollment period ends, individuals will need to pass a NAMACB certification exam based on a scope of practice at the Professional Ayurvedic Vaidya Membership level. Who Can Apply?
The NAMA Professional Ayurvedic Vaidya (AV) Membership category is open to both new applicants and current members. Eligible professionals must have completed one of the following:
A minimum of a BAMS degree from a university-affiliated, accredited institution in India, Nepal, or Sri Lanka.
OR
Training equivalent to the BAMS level (including both didactic and clinical components) from a university-affiliated, accredited degree-granting institution in any other country.
Will you be a new member of NAMA?
New members joining NAMA who meet the criteria for Professional Ayurvedic Vaidya Membership will be included in this membership category without a defined scope of practice for certification status; you will be listed in the NAMA Professional Directory as NAMA Professional Ayurvedic Vaidya Member.
Once the Professional Ayurvedic Vaidya Membership certification exam is created, all the members in this category will be automatically grandparented into the Certified Professional Ayurvedic Vaidya Membership without having to pass the certification exam. At this time, members will then abide by the scope of practice defined for the Certified Professional Ayurvedic Vaidya Membership and will be listed as Certified Professional Ayurvedic Vaidya member in the NAMA Professional Directory.
Are you a current member of NAMA?
Current members of NAMA at the CAHC, CAP, CAAP, and ADLC who meet the criteria for Professional Ayurvedic Vaidya Membership will be included in this membership category with a defined scope of practice at their current certification level. From now until the Professional Vaidya Certification exam is created, current members who hold a NAMACB certification status will be listed as NAMA Professional Ayurvedic Vaidya Members in the NAMA Professional Directory under one of the following ways based on their current certification level: Professional Ayurvedic Vaidya Member - CAHC, Professional Ayurvedic Vaidya Member - CAP, Professional Ayurvedic Vaidya Member - CAAP, or Professional Ayurvedic Vaidya Member - ADLC. Once the exam is created and members have been grandparented as certified members, they will be listed as Certified Professional Ayurvedic Vaidya members.
Once the Professional Ayurvedic Vaidya Membership certification exam is created, all the members in the Professional Ayurvedic Vaidya Membership will be automatically grandparented into the Certified Professional Ayurvedic Vaidya Membership without having to pass the certification exam. At this time, these members will then abide by the scope of practice defined for the Certified Professional Ayurvedic Vaidya Membership.
How much does it cost?
New and current members who have been accepted into the Certified Professional Ayurvedic Vaidya Membership. Upon membership approval, all applicants will be required to pay a non-refundable application fee of $150.00, in addition to the annual NAMA membership dues of $300.00.
Will Professional Ayurvedic Vaidya Members be listed in the NAMA Professional Directory? All new members at the Professional Ayurvedic Vaidya level will be listed as such in the professional directory.
From now until the Professional Vaidya Certification exam is created, current members who hold a NAMACB certification status will be listed as NAMA Professional Ayurvedic Vaidya Members in the professional directory under one of the following ways based on their current certification level: Vaidya-CAHC, Vaidya-CAP, Vaidya-CAAP, or Vaidya-ADLC. Once the exam is created and members have been grandparented as certified members, they will be listed as Certified Professional Ayurvedic Vaidya members.
To apply for the NAMA Professional Ayurvedic Vaidya (AV) Membership :
Complete the NAMA Professional Ayurvedic Vaidya (AV) Membership Application Form with a non-refundable application fee of $150.00.
In the application, you will be required to:
a. Upload the following supporting documentation:
i.Digital copy of legal identification document (in PDF; Passport, Country’s or State’s Driver’s License).
ii. Digital copy of the BAMS Degree, or MD in Ayurveda, or PhD in Ayurveda from India, Nepal or Sri Lanka (PDF, English Preferred).
b. If you have equivalent training you will be required to upload:
i. Digital copy of documentation of training (PDF, English Preferred)
ii. Digital copy of academic transcripts (PDF; English preferred)
3. The application will be reviewed by the NAMA Professional Ayurvedic Vaidya Membership Review Committee, and all applicants will be notified once the review is completed. Upon membership approval, all applicants will be required to pay the annual NAMA membership dues of $300.00. Applicants will receive an invoice via email.
