Professional Members:

Thank you for your commitment to Ayurvedic professionalism and the NAMA professional Ayurvedic community. As you know, 2019 is a critical year for meeting your requirements for continuing education.

The deadline for Professional Ayurvedic Continuing Education (PACE) credits for the current cycle (2018–2019) and the previous cycle (2016–2017) is December 31, 2019, at 11:59 p.m. Pacific Time. There will be no grace period. Therefore, if your PACE credits are not submitted correctly by this deadline, you will lose your NAMA professional membership and your certification will lapse.

We don’t want this to happen!

We appreciate your membership, the quality of work you do and want to honor your efforts to advance the Ayurvedic profession.

Proper Submissions

For credit submissions, make sure that the evidence of your course completion is valid. We will not approve PACE submissions that do not have sufficient proof of completion.

For further information on how many credits you need and how many credit you have earned, please refer to our comprehensive FAQs here (PDF) or here (Website)

Submit Your Credits Now

If you need individualized attention to ensure your PACE credits are complete, please email sophia@ayurvedanama.orgnow (please allow 2–5 days for a response, as she is processing many requests).

Given that we’re now serving nearly 1,000 Professional Members, the best way to ensure we can help you in time is to ask your questions now rather than waiting till later in the year.

Let’s keep our PACE up, and continue to enhance the quality of the Ayurvedic profession and share your knowledge around the world!

2019 NAMA Conference Podcast from session of Ayurveda Yoga Therapy for Stilling the Mind

NAMA2019_SiteBanner_2-1.jpg

Amy Wheeler shares information from her presentation at the NAMA conference and also her other notes from the conference which focused on Ayurveda and the Mind. She shares the following:

  • Amy's presentation titled 'Ayurveda Yoga Therapy for Stilling the Mind' - we constantly experience thoughts, feelings and sensations that can disrupt our concentration and disturb our peace of mind. Both Ayurveda and Yoga give us the tools that turn our minds away from chaos and rigidity and toward one-pointed attention, the hallmark of an undisturbed mind.

  • Dr. Ramkumar Kutty's presentation on 'Ayurveda and the Mind'. Amy explains how Dr. Ramkumar spoke about our heightened sense of 'I' and how it's the source of our suffering as it's creating individualism and how we need to move from 'I' to 'We' in order to suffer less.

Seeking Volunteers

IMG_4665.jpg

One of the most valuable resources NAMA has is our members. Many of our members contribute to NAMA’s success by volunteering, including those who regularly donate their time and effort as board and committee members. Volunteers help NAMA staff stay in touch with how to best serve our members and the larger Ayurvedic community.

Might you have the time, energy, and passion to help make NAMA better? The following committees need volunteers who can fill openings now or as they become available.

  • Communications Committee - Open to all member levels. Looking for persons with experience in technical and creative writing.

  • Membership Committee’s Professional Members Subcommittee - Must be a Professional Member with a passion for supporting NAMA's efforts. Help serve and grow NAMA professional membership.

  • Education Committee - Must be a Professional or Organizational Member with a passion for education and strong organizational skills.

If you are available, qualified, and eager to make a meaningful contribution in any of these areas, please email Jolynne, NAMA’s Membership Manager, for more information.

News From Ayurvedic Yoga Therapy Committee

Greetings practitioners:

We would like to formally announce that the grandparenting period for AYT-NAMA will be extended through March 31, 2019. There will be no additional extensions after this one. If you are a Professional Member with yoga therapy skills and experience, please click here for information on how to apply.

Attention NAMA-Recognized Schools:

The School Applications Form for AYT-NAMA programs will be published on or before February 23, 2019. We will then begin accepting school applications to teach this highly specialized curriculum, merging the disciplines of Ayurveda and yoga therapy. NAMA-recognized schools and AYTs with AYT-NAMA recognition that wish to offer an AYT training program are encouraged to apply. Schools and AYTs that have earned this designation deserve our congratulations. These providers have undergone a rigorous review process that ensures students can look to them for the highest level of dedication to and skill in this emerging field. Please click here to refer to our Entry Points document, which will help determine the duration and nature of the programs that providers may elect to offer.

Attention AYT Professionals or Students of NAMA-Recognized Schools:

We are concurrently looking for volunteers to add to our committee as we will soon begin reviewing AYT educational program applications, as well as continuing our professional discipline development work.  All volunteers on the AYT Committee must be NAMA-recognized AYT professionals or students in NAMA-recognized AYT programs.

We are honored to have served as stewards of this emerging professional designation, and we are thrilled that new educational programs will begin offering this credential very soon.  As NAMA continues to grow,  we will persevere with our efforts to elevate the knowledge base of Ayurvedic Yoga Therapy. As members of the NAMA community and potential AYTs, please feel free to reach out to us with comments or questions on the grandparenting process, school applications, the development of the discipline, the AYT scope of practice, or our future plans. We look forward to being of service.
