DEI Conscious Conversations: Cultural Appropriation in Ayurveda, Part 2

  • National Ayurvedic Medical Association (map)

Tuesday, September 27, 2022 | 3:00 - 4:30 p.m. Pacific Time
This event is open to NAMA members only.
Registration Required.

Following the Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Committee’s highly successful inaugural conversation on cultural appropriation in June 2022, we recognized the need to devote more time and attention to this vitally important topic. We’re delighted to welcome Ramkumar Kutty, BAMS; Robert Svoboda, BAMS; and Claudia Welch, DOM; joint authors of a November 2021 article entitled “Appropriation in Ayurveda” back into the webinar space to join us in further exploring this theme.

Our primary focus this time will be to hear from the community! We recognize that our work to better understand and address cultural appropriation is a journey that depends on cross-communication, shared wisdom, and open inquiry. So, we want to hear from you!

This promises to be a lively and enlightening conversation, so we encourage all to register and submit any questions you have early so that we can do our best to include them.

We would highly recommend reading the original article about cultural appropriation in Ayurveda (“Appropriation in Ayurveda”) before the talk.

You can also view the recording of the first conversation in the DEI section of the website.

NAMA’s DEI committee is excited to offer this powerful opportunity to engage in an interactive event on a crucial topic for our community. We look forward to seeing you there!

NAMA Professional Members will automatically receive 2 PACE credits for attending the entire session. Please register with the email associated with your membership to help us apply your earned credits as quickly as possible.
