Professional Members: Let's Keep You Board Certified!

The era of there being “no grace period” to meet your board certification requirements is here! (Remember, Ayurvedic Health Counselors and Ayurvedic Practitioners are currently board certified. Certification for Ayurvedic Doctors is not yet available, but it is coming.)

If you have not yet met your certification/NAMA membership requirements (i.e.,done what it takes for you to remainboard certifiedand a NAMA Professional Member), you have received an email every month since June letting you know exactly where you stand.

Thank you for your efforts to maintain your certification. Staff is answering emails and returning phone calls as fast as we can. We appreciate your patience as we work our way through the backlog of messages—but even as we are catching up with these, more requests for assistance come in.

The closer we get to December 31, the greater the likelihood that even more members will need our help. If you have any questions, please contact NAMA now! We are a very small staff. We will not have the resources to help everyone in a timely manner in the fall.

Student Members: Get Involved a Little or A Lot!

Are you interested in meeting Ayurvedic students from around the country? Sharing your opinion on various NAMA activities or the exam? Getting more out of your membership by volunteering? Your peers on the Students subcommittee are always working on projects to enhance your membership experience, better prepare you for professional membership, and increase the number of Student Members.

Sometimes subcommittee members just need feedback from a wide swath of students. Other times they are looking for a few volunteers for a short-term task force or trying to find someone to fill an opening on the subcommittee.

If you are open to receiving an occasional email requesting your help with one of these efforts, please reply to this ENEWS and let us know your name, school, the type of program you’re enrolled in (e.g.,counselor, practitioner, doctor), and how long you have been studying Ayurveda.

The widervarietyof students that participate, the better!

It is that time again! NAMA is gearing up for the 2020 conference. As a valued member of our community, we would like to invite your business or organization to be a part of our National Ayurvedic Medical Association Conference being held April 24, 2020, at The Art of Living Retreat Center. The conference has two full days of educational sessions, a Research Poster event, and presentations by featured speakers. There are many opportunities for networking and socializing within the community.

We are looking for Sponsors and Exhibitors to help make this event truly special for our community. As an ayurvedically focused business, your involvement will give your organization visibility in front of an informed audience who will appreciate being able to speak with you and to become familiar with your offerings.

Board of Director Voting Deadline Extended to August 15!

 Dear Members,

We are over 100 votes short. We need you to take the time to select your candidates and vote today. A minimum of 25 percent of the membership must vote in order for an election to be considered valid per the bylaws that govern our shared efforts to promote the acceptance and growth of Ayurveda in the U.S.

Your Board of Directors is the most important part of NAMA; it leads our efforts to shape and move the Ayurvedic profession forward for the benefit of all of us—professionals, students, educators, businesses, and supporters—who are invested in this amazing science. Voting is perhaps your biggest chance to participate in and guide Ayurveda’s future—and our own.

We have some incredible candidates, all of whom bring a wide range of experience and talents to NAMA. You might not know any of the candidates, but you can learn about them. Read their statements to NAMA members. Look over their CV/resume. We encourage you to think about what qualifications are most essential for board candidates to have and then vote based on your priorities. The individuals you elect will have a tremendous impact on the continued progress of NAMA, our members, and the entire Ayurvedic community.

Please take some time to review the candidates and VOTE!

Congratulations Maine! Maine Now a Health Freedom State.

Great news! On June 11, Maine passed into law LD 364, “An Act to Establish the Right to Practice Complementary and Alternative Health Care Act”.  The new law will protect Maine citizen’s access to their many wonderful practitioners such as homeopaths, herbalists, traditional naturopaths, nutritional consultants, and many more, who are providing complementary and alternative health care. Maine now joins ten other states that have passed safe harbor licensing exemption bills to protect consumer access to these practitioners (Arizona, California, Colorado, Idaho, Louisiana, Minnesota, Nevada, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Rhode Island).
