Professional Members: 18-months Left in Current PACE Cycle; 6-months Gone

All board certified Ayurvedic professional (Health Counselor and Practitioner) and Ayurvedic Doctor members MUST submit their 30 PACE credit requirements by the end of the PACE cycle--and pay annually by their dues date--to maintain their board certification and Professional Membership. There is no grace period for either. We are currently in the 2020-2021 PACE cycle and six months of it are already gone. 

NAMA is currently in its third PACE cycle. Recall that a PACE cycle is 2-years (24-months) long. It begins in an even year (2020) and ends in the odd year (2021).

During the PACE cycle, 30 credits are required.

  • 2 credits for the 2020-2021 ethics quiz

  • 28 course credits

There are many ways to learn, and many ways you can earn your PACE credit.  For example:. 

  • Completing a PACE Listed course.

  • Attending the upcoming (and free!) NAMA Seminars in Ayurveda with Heather Gryzch on Monday July 27. (Seminars in Ayurveda are always the fourth Monday of the month.)

  • Listening to any previously recorded Seminars in Ayurveda from the 9-years library of recordings. Listening to past Seminars is free for NAMA members only.

  • “Attending” the NAMA conference and/or watching the past conference recordings and passing their related quizzes

  • 2020 Conference

Dhaval Dhru MD, AD, AYT is an Ayurvedic Doctor, Ayurvedic Yoga Therapist and educator of Ayurveda and Yoga. He is a retired ENT surgeon and former Associate Professor and Chair, Department of Ayurvedic Sciences, Bastyr University, Kenmore WA and a clinical faculty member at Mount Madonna Institute, CA. He is passionate about promoting Ayurveda, has been past president of NAMA and has been serving on NAMA’S board and various committees since 2011.

2020 Board of Directors Elections: Voting Now Open

The slate for the 2020 NAMA Board of Directors election consists of seven candidates for five openings. Members of your board of directors are not appointed; they are solely elected by you, the membership. Please vote today for those you want to lead NAMA and the Ayurvedic profession into new growth opportunities and initiatives.

Voting consists of ballots being made available to each NAMA member of record in good standing as of June 30, 2020. At least 25 percent of the membership must vote for the election to be considered valid. You can only vote once. Your vote can only be counted if you vote correctly. 

Log in to your NAMA account to access your ballot. Please consider the candidates carefully. Each candidate’s statement to the membership, recent NAMA committee work, and CV/resume are provided for you on the Candidates page of our website and on the ballot.

Exams Price Discounted Through 12/31/ 2020

We have exciting news for those of you who have been looking to become NAMACB board–certified Ayurvedic professionals upon graduation from your program! 

In response to the financial upheaval brought on by COVID-19 and the general rajas and tamas of the world, the NAMA Certification Board (NAMACB) is discounting the price of the Ayurvedic Health Counselor and Ayurvedic Practitioner Certification Exams through the end of 2020. The AHC Exam will be offered at $300, and the AP Exam will be priced at $360 through 12/31/2020. The cost will be reflected in the exam price when you register for your exam. 

Due to COVID-19 precautions, all exams are currently being administered through Online Proctoring (OLP), from the comfort of your home. For more details about OLP or for general information about the exam, please visit the NAMACB’s Exams FAQ page.

We hope this price reduction will help make the process of becoming board certified a little easier for you!

She has been on faculty for many Ayurveda and Yoga organizations, universities and colleges.  Dhanada has been an international keynote speaker, presenter and integrated medicine panel expert. She is also known for presenting Ayurvedic solutions on various media platforms such as radio Azad, Funasia, EBC Radio, Radio Zindagi, Asia TV.  

She is founder of Astanga Ayurveda and Panchakarma wellness center, Dallas,TX, Vedic Astrologer and Vastu Consultant. A Yajur Vedic Brahmin by tradition. Her knowledge of Vedic Astrology and Vastu inherited her DNA from her Vedic Brahmin family.

President's Corner: YOGA PRACTICES FOR IMMUNITY 

In this talk we will discuss how the various practices of yoga can help build immunity, reduce stress and strengthen both the physical body and the mind. Arun Deva is a registered Vinyasa Krama teacher, a registered Yoga Therapist and the Chair of the Ayurvedic Yoga Therapy Committee of NAMA. He believes that yoga, when coupled with Ayurveda, becomes a very powerful therapeutic tool. Here we will put the yogic practice into context of an Ayurvedic lifestyle and how, together, they help rebuild and sustain our immunity.

Arun Deva is a senior āyurvedic practitioner (AP-NAMA), āyurvedic yoga therapist (AYT-NAMA), an IAYT certified yoga therapist (C-IAYT) and YA recognized teacher of vinyāsa krama yoga in the Krishnamacarya tradition (E-RYT500) He has had the privilege of serving both the National and State Āyurvedic Associations Boards including on their Boards. He has also chaired NAMA’s Committee for Āyurvedic Yoga Therapy since 2014. He is director of āyurveda for yoga studies at Loyola Marymount University.

President’s Corner: COVID Statistics, the Role of ACE2, and Perspectives on Ayurveda and the Importance of Personalized Medicine

with J. Douglas Coffin, Ph.D., Professor of Molecular Genetics, University of Montana, Missoula.  

This week’s talk with our President, Margrit Mikulis and J. Douglas Coffin, Ph.D., will be discussing COVID Statistics, the Role of ACE2, and Perspectives on Ayurveda and the Importance of Personalized Medicine. Douglas Coffin is a Professor of Molecular Genetics in the Skaggs School of Pharmacy at the University of Montana. He teaches pathophysiology, cardiovascular pharmacology, human development and genetics. His research has focused on the genetic basis for human development and disease. Those interests led him to study Ayurveda, with publications on ayrugenetics and personalized medicine.
