Marma, Mind, and Mahagunas: Shifting and Supporting Patterns for Nourishment (Copy)

Course Topic:
TIA (Topics in Ayurveda) = 5
TIW (Topics in Wellness) = 1

Course Description:
The mahagunas of sattva, rajas, & tamas are at the core of skillful healing in Ayurveda. Consciously identifying these mental attitudes & reflecting upon them as we work with clients—and ourselves—increases our effectiveness as practitioners, educators, & community members. Integrating guided Marma therapy & reflective listening with awareness deepens healing. In this course, we learn how to apply the discerning wisdom of Ayurveda with Marma therapy, communication, & the mahagunas professionally & personally, without descending into judgment or criticism towards ourselves or others. This course helps you build confidence in your ability to hold healthy boundaries & work appropriately with the resources of yourself & others, through guided Marma therapy paired with reflective listening.

Course Objectives::
1. Cultivate the awareness to be able to identify sattva, rajas, and tamas in yourself and clients in everyday interactions.
2. Be able to apply reflective listening skills in response to clients in one-on-one sessions.
3. Be able to feedback in a neutral and supportive way what you’ve heard another say.
4. Be able to respond with non-verbal means of support (Marma therapy) when alternatives to words & thoughts are needed. Amplify a “whole body-whole being” approach through the guided use of 6 or more marma points.
5. Discern when to use a sattvic, rajasic, or tamasic approach with yourself or your clients in therapeutic interactions.
