ROGA VICHARA-JWARA (INFLAMMATION)

Topics in Ayurveda: 30 PACE

Course Description:
This course delves into the deeper, often unexplored connections between Jwara (fever), Paaka (suppuration), inflammation, pyrexia, autoimmune conditions, degeneration, infections, and deficiencies. You will discover why Jwara is termed "Rogapati" (the king of diseases), why Hippocrates famously stated, “Give me a fever (inflammation), and I can cure any disease”, and why Jwara is regarded as both a disease and a remedy in Ayurvedic tradition.

Through a synthesis of Ayurvedic wisdom, modern medical insights, and real-life case studies, we will explore Jwara in its entirety, as envisioned by the classical masters. You will gain a comprehensive understanding of how stress, lifestyle factors (such as nutrition, rest, exercise, and relationships), and disruptions

Course Objectives:
1. Develop a strong foundational understanding of Jwara as described in Ayurvedic texts, with a focus on its relationship to inflammation.Identify the Nidana (root causes) of inflammation and its triggers.

2. Analyse the Samprapti (pathogenesis) of Jwara and the role of the Tridoshas in its manifestation.

3. Learn to differentiate types of Jwara based on clinical signs and symptoms.

300-hour Ayurvedic Yoga Specialist A bridge program for integrating the sister sciences of Ayurveda and Yoga

Course Objective:
Ayurvedic Yoga Specialist - Ayurvedic Yoga Therapy personalizes the yogic practice for each individual based on his or her constitutional type and current state of being. These sister sciences are most effective when practiced together.

In our programs we meet one full weekend per month to immerse ourselves in and integrate the ancient arts of Ayurveda & Yoga into our body, mind and spirit. Ayurvedic wisdom says that "A person is as old as their digestive system", therefore we have a special emphasis on digestion and detoxification in this program.

We tell our students to think of themselves as their first client. This is about personal immersion into these ancient sacred sciences through tongue and pulse reading, an individualized approach to yoga, pranayama (focused breath-work), diet & spices, meditation, mantra, mudra, chakra, srota, nadi and marma balancing, as well as dinacharya (daily living routines) to restore balance and harmony.

Ayurveda & the Endocrine System: An Integrative Exploration

Course Delivery Method: Live (On Line)

Topics in Ayurveda: 30 PACE

Course Description:
Modern medicine defines the endocrine system as a network of glands that produce and release hormones that direct many important bodily functions, such as regulating metabolism, growth, reproduction and homeostasis. Ancient Ayurveda does not have an anatomical designation that directly corresponds to the modern endocrine system, yet it offers a holistic, coherent approach to understanding and managing endocrine health through the lens of the tridosha (vata, pitta, kapha), agni (the digestive fire), and ojas (vital energy & immunity).

In this course, we will explore several common endocrine disorders from the Ayurveda perspective, such as hypothyroidism, diabetes, adrenal fatigue, PCOS (polycystic ovary syndrome), and more. While modern endocrinology focuses on medications, hormone replacement therapies, and surgery for endocrine disorders, Ayurveda emphasizes root cause analysis, detoxification (Shodhana), rejuvenation (Rasayana), dietary adjustments, herbal medicines, and mind-body interventions.

We will consider how Ayurveda understands the associated organs, tissues and systems, drawing from the ancient texts, such as Aṣṭāṅga Hṛdayam, Caraka Samhitā, Suśruta Samhitā, and Mādhava Nidāna. A consideration of Ayurveda and modern endocrinology offers a complementary and integrative approach to understanding the body and supporting hormonal health.

Course Objectives:
1. Describe Ayurveda’s perspective on the functions and structures of modern anatomy’s endocrine system
2. Compare and contrast Ayurveda’s explanation and treatment of dosha and dhatu imbalance with allopathic endocrinology’s explanation and treatment strategies
3. Support oneself and clients with new tools and strategies to make diet and lifestyle changes to improve function of the endocrine system
4. Deepen understanding of basic principles of Ayurveda

Ayurvedic Pulse Diagnosis

Course Topic: TIA = 10 PACE Credits
Course Delivery: Live In Person

Course Description:
In 1986 during my Ayurvedic training in India, I followed my teacher, Dr. J.R. Raju on a daily basis as he taught me Ayurveda through the lens of pulse reading. After much training I wrote a pulse reading course with Dr Raju’s blessings that I used to train western doctors and is still used today by Maharishi Ayurveda. I have taught this course thousands of times to laypeople, doctors, and at two Ayurvedic Colleges for over 30 years each. I am excited to teach this course at the Sivananda Yoga Retreat in the Bahamas over four days of personal training. You will learn how to feel the changing of vata, pitta, and kapha throughout the day, before and after food, yoga, meditation, chanting, satsang, and swimming at one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. You will learn how to feel prakriti (body type) and vikriti (imbalances) and how to prevent and treat imbalances based on an accurate pulse reading. Finally, you will learn how to take the pulse soul-to-soul and use the pulse as a healing tool restoring the memory of perfect health and consciousness in yourself, family, and patients with each pulse reading. Don’t miss this rare opportunity to experience and feel Ayurveda while you learn Ayurvedic Pulse Reading.

Course Objectives:
1. Learn to diagnose prakriti (body type) and vikriti (dosha and sun dosha imbalances) and herbal remedies for each imbalance.
