The Role of Ayurveda in Your Yoga Practice

  • National Ayurvedic Medical Association 2455 East Sunrise Boulevard, Suite 816 Fort Lauderdale, FL, 33304 United States (map)

with Arun Deva

Seminar Description:
Ayurveda arose within the ascetic milieu of ancient India. That means Ayurveda arose from within the yogic community of renunciates. It arose out of compassion for the many, utilizing the skills necessary for an ascetic to protect their health. It necessarily expanded into corrective behavior and intervention necessary to restore balance and health to the many. Today, yoga is reduced to a.limited practice of mostly asana and pranayama but its full expression can be found within the practices of Ayurveda. Equally, the practices of Ayurveda can increase the potency of yogic practices in our daily lives. Over time the two have separated. It is time to reconnect them seamlessly in therapy and maintenance of health. Restoration of health rests on a correct diagnosis of the imbalance. For diagnosis, Ayurveda speaks the same language as yoga so the diagnosis and treatment will mesh perfectly
