It’s December 3rd, and we are getting closer to the winter solstice and to completing another calendar year. As we look back on the previous months, acknowledging our past successes can help us sustain the vigor we need to achieve even greater progress in the coming year. As I reflect on 2017, I am in awe of how much our organization has accomplished. By harnessing this momentum, we should be able to finish 2018 with the extraordinary achievement of raising at least 10 percent of our total goal of $100,000 for our Accreditation Program in December.

Being a numbers gal, I wanted a precise figure that would quantify our fundraising efforts in a meaningful way. The number 108 came to mind. This number maintains an auspicious reputation in numerous cultures around the globe. In Vedic cosmology, it is believed that the distance between Earth and the sun is 108 times the diameter of the sun and that the distance between Earth and the moon is 108 times the diameter of the moon.

With an eye to the auspiciousness and the sacred nature of 108,  I determined that if 108 people could give us 108 dollars, we would exceed the 10 percent mark of our total goal and catapult NAMA into an extraordinarily successful New Year!

As individuals, an organization, and a profession, we should celebrate our victories throughout the month of December. Let’s join together in ringing in the New Year with more success!

To that end, I’ve made “108 x108 Is Great!” my personal motto for December.
