Our annual report provides an opportunity for our members and the general public to understand the efforts put forth by NAMA during our 2018 fiscal year (July 1, 2018 - June 30, 2019). We hope you find this report valuable, and we look forward to continuing to serve the Ayurvedic profession and community in years to come.

As we move forward into our next year, we hope to improve our website, offer more continuing education opportunities for all our professional categories, develop enriching conferences and support more Ayurveda throughout the United States.

Erin Casperon, Dean at the Kripalu School of Ayurveda and Chair of NAMA’s Schools Subcommittee, and Larry Mangel, owner of Shanti Yoga and Ayurveda in Philadelphia and member of NAMA’s Professional Members Subcommittee, were featured in the September 25, 2019, USA Today article “Why You Need to Know about Ayurveda, the Latest Wellness Craze.” Besides sharing some of the basics of Ayurveda, the article includes a plug for all of our Professional Members—it recommends learning more about this traditional approach to wellness by “visiting an Ayurvedic practitioner, whom you can find on the National Ayurvedic Medical Association (NAMA) website.”

Role of Ayurvedic Practitioners in Integrative Case Management of Amavata

October 28, 2019, 5:00 Pacific

This seminar will illuminate the disease profile of amavata (rheumatoid arthritis) with relevant facts and statistics and explore Ayurvedic pathogenesis, clinical diagnosis, and the value of differential diagnosis. Dr. Parla will review the importance of lab and imaging reports and the prescription drugs commonly used to treat this disease and their cautions and suggest appropriate Ayurvedic herbs. His discussion of the issues surrounding interdisciplinary communication and co-management for Ayurvedic practitioners will feature case studies and examples of treatment protocols.

1. Listen to either a live or recorded Seminar in Ayurveda. As a NAMA member, you have access to a library of nine years’ worth of recorded SIAs. You can access them from the Seminars page

2. Find the SIA you’re interested in by searching in the PACE Listing for its title or the presenter’s last name.

3. Click on the respective “Verify Credits” link.

4. Complete the credit survey.
