Exploring Raktavaha Srotas & Shalakya Tantra


Course Description
This course explores in detail the cardiovascular system in Ayurvedic Medicine including various disorders, assessment and treatment. It also examines Shalakya Tantra, disorders related to the ears, nose and throat. Students will learn the causes, signs and symptoms, and pathogenesis of the disorders, as well as treatments through diet, lifestyle, herbal formulas and other therapies. The srotamsi explored are: Raktavaha and Shalakya Tantra (ENT/ head/ neck).

Course Objective
1. Explain the samprapti for raktavasrotas and shalakya tantra. 2. Demonstrate the relationship and activity of the subdoshas in raktavasrotas and shalakya tantra. 3. List in Sanskrit and describe in English (at least 8) common roga for raktavasrotas and shalakya tantra. 4. Categorize purvaroopa, roopa, and nidana/hetu for each roga according to dosha. 5. Determine single herb and classical formulations that can be used for raktavasrotas and shalakya tantra. 6. Design a chikitsa plan for raktavasrotas and shalakya tantra. Suggest ahara, vihara (including shodhana and shamana) 7. Name the subdoshas that have hridaya as their seat and explain its significance.
