Topics in Ayurveda: 12 PACE Credits

Course Description:
Ayurvedic massage restores a sense of calm and balance to the body, nourishing the skin and connective tissue. Learn about specific energy points of the head, face, hands and feet how to use oils and masks for individualized treatments. This treatment is not only good for the face and scalp but also creates a sense of calm and groundedness that lasts for days.

Course Objectives:
• Learn how to perform a 45 minute facial, head, hand and foot massage technique
• Learning about the use of facial masks
• Learn the Ayurvedic fundamentals, including the five elements and three doshas
• Learn ceremony and the use of mantra, or sacred sound, to create a calming and healing work environment.

Provider/Faculty Bio:
Hilary Garivaltis is a Certified Ayurvedic Practitioner and Ayurvedic Education Consultant. She served as the Executive Director of the National Ayurvedic Medical Association from 2016-2023 and was the Founder and former Dean of the Kripalu School of Ayurveda in Stockbridge, MA. She continues to serve on Ayurvedic Advisory Boards and as a board member on the National Ayurvedic Medical Association Certification Board. She graduated from UMass Amherst in 1982 and went on to study Ayurvedic medicine in the United States and then in India from 1997-2007. She continues to study with the world’s leading teachers in the United States and in India whenever she gets the chance. Hilary is also currently the President of a small non-profit, Health Freedom Massachusetts. Hilary grew up in Worcester, MA, and settled with her husband and three children in Florida, MA in 1985.
